Manhal!
Hi, I’m
Manhal is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She holds a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, along with a certification in trauma-informed practice. She provides therapy in English, Urdu, Hindi, & Punjabi.
Manhal works primarily with immigrants and newcomers, using a culturally sensitive approach that meets clients where they are — whether you've just arrived or immigrated years ago and still don't quite feel settled. She supports clients through the identity shifts, guilt, disconnection, cultural disorientation, language barriers, isolation, strained family relationships, and loss of community that so often come with rebuilding a life in a new country. She draws on her own experience immigrating from Pakistan to Canada, which shapes how she understands and sits with these struggles.
Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Emotion-Focused Therapy, Manhal creates space for clients to slow down, get honest about what they want, and move toward it in small, doable steps — approached with empathy, humour, and zero judgment. She offers therapy in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, allowing clients to work in the language they think and feel in most naturally.
Let’s Get Personal
Outside of her clinical work, Manhal is a mom to two daughters and cherishes time spent with her husband, family, and friends. Originally from Pakistan, she moved to Canada in 2020, an experience that shaped much of who she is today, both personally and professionally. She's a self-proclaimed foodie always finding joy in cooking, trying different cuisines, and hunting down new cafes and restaurants to explore. She's a true tea-and-coffee-both kind of person (no need to choose), and loves getting outdoors in nature and travelling whenever she can.
Psychology fascinated me from an early age…
Since grade 9, I’ve been captivated by the idea that something as intangible as the mind and our thoughts can shape so much of how we live, feel, connect, and show up in the world. What started as curiosity quickly became a clear goal. I knew I wanted to understand people more deeply and, eventually, use that understanding to help others. That passion led me to years of studying psychology and gaining hands-on experience in the mental health field.
Then, life gave that curiosity a more personal meaning…
Moving from Pakistan to Canada changed more than where I lived. I found myself navigating a new country, a shifting sense of identity, and a version of myself I didn’t fully recognize yet. There were moments of feeling lost, disconnected, and caught between where I came from and where I was trying to belong. Going through that transition showed me how deeply immigration, culture, identity, and belonging can affect our mental health, even when those struggles aren’t always visible to the people around us.
Therapy became a way to turn that experience into connection…
My own experience as an immigrant is a big part of why supporting immigrants and newcomers is so meaningful to me. I understand how isolating it can feel to explain an experience to someone who may understand it clinically but hasn’t necessarily lived it themselves. I want my clients to have a space where they don’t have to over-explain every cultural nuance or justify why something feels so complicated. A space where they can feel genuinely heard and understood while also receiving thoughtful, evidence-informed support.
Being a therapist now…
I naturally see people through an emotional lens. I’m curious about what sits underneath the surface, the experiences that shaped you, the thoughts you may not say out loud, and the parts of yourself you may still be trying to understand. There is nothing more meaningful to me than watching someone realize that their experiences make sense and finally feel heard, seen, and understood, sometimes for the first time.
Therapy with me is a space to be human. You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly what you need before you walk through the door. We can figure that out together. I’ll meet you with warmth, curiosity, and compassion while helping you better understand yourself and create meaningful change that actually fits your life.
